Summer Is Here

Summer is Here!
We are half way through 7 weeks of teams in a row and the time has completely flown by!  We have had so many amazing teams this last month and their hearts for bringing help, hope and healing to those that are hurting are evident.  We are excited to see what God has in store for the next several weeks.  Summer is here and has brought all of the humidity and rain with it.  We've had so much rain lately that it sometimes makes it difficult to do jobs that are outside.  We're thankful that we haven't experienced any more flooding since May and we are keeping an eye on the gulf now that it is hurricane season.  The forecast is predicting a pretty active Atlantic hurricane season for 2021.  Please join us in praying that God would provide protection and keep any storms entering the gulf calm.

The interns arrived! Tucker, Kayla, and Brooke all arrived in Louisiana two weeks ago.  We started orientation over in Covington and the interns got to tour the warehouse and meet some of our Covington staff.  We spent some time in the Lower Ninth Ward and Jen drove around to show everyone some of the areas that were most impacted by Hurricane Katrina 16 years ago.  We also got to spend a little time in the French Quarter and took a short river boat tour up the Mississippi.
When we got back to Lake Charles, we finished up our orientation and geared up for the next week of teams.  My home church, Blairstown E-Free, was the interns' first team of the summer!  My three sisters came on the team and it was such a blessing and encouragement to spend time with my family and some of my closest friends.  Getting to serve alongside them, share in what God has been doing here, introduce them to new friends, and show them around Lake Charles was such a great time.  There were many late nights of chatting, playing games with friends (old and new), and talking about what God was doing during the week.  While prayer walking, one of the groups met two men in the community that have started to join us for some dinners during the week.  The one gentleman brought his son and they even stayed and played games after dinner with the team.  It is so cool to see how God is working in the community and bringing people together through sharing the love of Christ in prayer.
